Western
Devotional Hall
Opposite
the Western Entrance is the Western Devotional hall, dedicated to the
third
Buddha of the present world-age, Kassapa. Originally constructed by Ma
May Gale in 1900, it was burnt in the great fire of 1931 and
later
rebuilt. Of the original building only three marble slabs, recording
the
deed of merit in Myanmar, Chinese, Hindi and English, remain. The niche
in the center of the hall's interior houses an image of Kassapa.
