Khwabgah
The Khwabgah complex was the most important and beautifully designed building in the royal complex, and was devoted entirely to the private use of Akbar. The Khwabgah has separate rooms where the emperor held his secret meetings with his noble men, as well as Akbar's personal library (Kutub Khana) and his personal sleeping chamber. The sleeping chamber, called the Khilwatkada-I-Khas, is particularly noteworthy. Located on the first floor, the chamber is about 4 1/2 meters square and is surrounded by a pillared veranda, which in turn is sheltered by a sloping stone roof, giving the chamber an impressive look. The chamber itself features a unique ventilating shaft by the bed. This chamber was once connected directly to the imperial harem and Panch Mahal through a covered passage, traces of which still remain.
