Pritam Niwas Chowk
To the left of the Diwan-I-Khas is another gate, the Riddhi-Siddhi Pol, which leads to the Pritam Niwas Chowk, or "Court of the Beloved." (The Riddhi-Siddhi Pol is visible in the left side of the picture above left). The Pritam Chowk is an enchanting enclosed courtyard with four 18th-century gateways, elaborately decorated in brilliant colors. This courtyard was originally used for royal dance performances. The balcony above the gates was used by performing singers. The entrance from the Riddhi-Siddhi Pol is the most spectacular, brightly decorated with a peacock motif. The center photo above shows interior archway, where the Riddhi-Siddhi Pol leads to the Pritam Niwas Chowk, while the photo to the right offers a close-up of the peacock archway.
